Since 1931, the Good Friday Appeal has been changing children’s health for the better and your support can continue to change and impact the lives of children into the future by including a gift in your Will.
Leaving a gift that will live on after you
A bequest is a gift left in a Will. Most bequests are made by people who want to make a positive difference after they’re gone.
By making a Will you can state how you wish your estate to be distributed to your loved ones and to the causes that are important to you, like the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Next steps
The RCH Foundation manages all gifts in wills on behalf of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and the Good Friday Appeal. By telling the RCH Foundation what is important to you, you are able to suggest how your gift can best help in the future. It is particularly important to get in touch if you would like your gift to support an area of special interest.
Speak to your legal advisor about drafting a Will or revisiting your existing Will, or adding a codicil.
Your legal advisor can help you decide what type of bequest you want to leave. You could leave a percentage of your estate, or the ‘residue’ – what is left after providing for your loved ones. You could leave cash, or even a piece of property. Leaving a gift in your will to help the RCH is simple and allows you to leave a larger gift than would be possible during your lifetime, without affecting your current circumstances.
If you would like to receive more detailed information, or arrange a confidential meeting to discuss your options, please contact Annalese Fowler at the RCH Foundation on 03 8341 6645 or email giftinwill.foundation@rch.org.au.
You can also visit the RCH Foundation website for more information.
Recommended wording to include in your Will:
Please see below suggested wording. It is important to use the legal name as below.
‘I give the residue of my estate OR [x]% of the residue of my estate; OR the sum of $[insert amount]; OR [insert specified assets, such as real estate, shares, artwork, etc] to the ROYAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL (ABN 69 084 797 965) to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide world class care for our children.
I direct that my gift be acknowledged as part of the Good Friday Appeal. I declare that the receipt of the proper officer of the organisation shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.’
