Henry is now thriving

Henry’s journey at the RCH began after a murmur in his heart was discovered.

Within his first 5 months, he battled COVID, bronchiolitis twice and RSV. It was during his bought with RSV that his family took him to the RCH it was there, that a murmur in his heart was discovered.

Tests performed at both his paediatrician and RCH confirmed Henry had not only a heart murmur but two heart conditions Coarctation of the Aorta and Bicuspid Aortic Valve. RCH Dr Michael Cheung also confirmed that Henry would need open heart surgery to correct the coarctation.

After a grueling 4 hours of surgery, his family received the news his surgery was completed successfully.

“Seeing your child hooked up to so many machines was very overwhelming, but the nurses and doctors were very compassionate and caring.”

Henry is now thriving at 2 and a half years old – he’s cheeky, he loves swimming and hitting all his milestones.
